Petite Anglaise is light, frank and tremendous fun Like all good writers, her work simply enables us to appreciate the diversity, possibilities, trials, and beauty of life.
Suggesting that the whole blogging fad may well be have had its day, she adds: 'I tend to update my Facebook status instead, and I find that eliciting a few brief responses from my friends usually satisfies any cravings I might have for a spot of banter or virtual interaction.
A gun was fired into her mailbox recently as locals made clear they did not appreciate her portrayal of life in the country. Three years ago Miss Sanderson made national newspaper headlines when the British accountancy firm where she worked in Paris sacked her because of the blog.
Although she successfully sued Dixon Wilson for unfair dismissal, other staff were referred to constantly, often in allegedly disparaging terms. The blog is also full of references to Miss Sanderson's assorted boyfriends - who are given nicknames like 'Mr Frog' and 'The Lover' - as well as her five-year-old 'Frenglish' daughter, dubbed 'Tadpole'.
The demise of Petite Anglaise has already come as a shock to thousands who have shared Miss Sanderson's often chaotic life for the past five years, particularly women who were inspired by it to start blogs of their own. One, calling herself Billygean, comments on the Petite Anglaise site: 'You were one of the original bloggers I used to read.
While Miss Sanderson argues that she has simply grown embarrassed by providing too much personal information in her blog, the financial success of her two books, 'Petite Anglais' and 'French Kissing,' may well be part of her motivation for closing it down. Despite their massive popularity, blogs are notoriously difficult to make any money out of, and consequently have an amateur image which some professional writers can feel uncomfortable with.
